Special Projects

HDGroup prides itself on its flexibility and innovative approach to achieve project success in the most unusual circumstances. Our passions in special projects come from the hearts of an individual or corporation who finds it difficult to obtain “buy-in” from other professionals. In our team members’ careers, opportunities for special projects have resulted in unique experiences in patience and perseverance. Examples of these efforts include the following:

Renovation of an 1899 Texas farmhouse slated for demolition, lovingly restored to full function as a home, and then later relocated in its entirety to avoid the bulldozers in residential development. For a City that was unsure how to permit and approve the relocation of a building, HDGroup guided the process to benefit both the community in maintaining one of the original homes built in the small community, and the owners in offering a unique and inspirational property to enjoy. This home offers a constant reminder of what can be accomplished when passion and expertise align.

A McDonald's restaurant built in the historic Union Station, Washington, DC. The commercial developer set requirements for tenants of the newly restored station to follow strict design guidelines with sensitivity to the historic structure. The solution conceived of for this site by HDGroup's principal, as an employee of McDonald's. was a re-creation of an original free-standing McDonalds inside Union Station, with 25' tall arches that spanned 40' of customer dining space. The Washington DC branch of the American Institute of Architects issued an award for interior design to the architectural firm (Sorg and Associates) and contractor who completed this project.

Brinker International's "Chili Pepper" building in Aurora, Colorado. This project was envisioned by Chili's as a landmark building representative of the concept's unique ability to establish and maintain the Chili's culture for twenty years. Designed by world-renowned architect James Wines of SITE Environmental Design, the unusually shaped Chili Pepper building was a challenge to obtain design approval by the City of Aurora. Working closely with the City Design Staff, HDGroup principal, as an employee, of Brinker International, negotiated a resolution allowing Brinker to construct this landmark building that continues to give pause to unaware automobile passengers who glimpse its facade high above the roadway.

We believe in you. If you have a vision, we'll help get you there.
